0. Choose your cave hotel carefully
Not every cave hotel is the same. Some rooms are carved directly into the rock, while others are stone-built rooms designed to look like caves. Check room photos, reviews, ventilation, and whether your room has windows.
0. Book a hotel with a rooftop terrace
The sunrise views can be spectacular, especially when hot air balloons are flying. Ask whether the terrace has an unobstructed view and whether balloon visibility depends on wind and weather conditions.
0. Pack layers of clothing
Cave rooms can feel cool even when it’s warm outside. Cappadocia’s mornings and evenings can be chilly, particularly in spring and fall. Bring a sweater or light jacket.
0. Don’t plan your entire trip around the balloons
Balloon flights are weather-dependent and can be canceled. Stay at least two or three nights if you can, giving yourself additional opportunities to see them or take a flight.
