There was once a poor man who lived in a small, quiet town.
He had no family, no friends, and very little money.

Every morning, he walked the streets looking for small jobs.
Some days he earned a few coins.
Other days, he earned nothing at all.

One cold evening, as he was walking home, he saw an old woman sitting on the ground.
She was shaking from the cold and looked very hungry.

The man checked his pocket.
He had only one coin left.
It was his last coin for the day.

He thought about his empty home and his empty stomach.
Then he looked at the woman again.

Without saying a word, he placed the coin in her hand.
The woman looked up and smiled.

“Thank you,” she said softly.

The man walked away, not knowing what would happen next.

The next morning, he woke up to a knock on his door.
Outside stood a stranger with warm clothes and food.

The stranger said,
“Last night, you helped my mother.
I have been looking for you.”

The man was shocked.

The stranger offered him a job and a place to stay.

That single coin changed the man’s life forever.
