Cost indexes are utilized to estimate the total project cost by accounting for the
changes in the cost over time (i.e., inflation).
• A cost index is a dimensionless number showing the ratio of the current cost of
something to its cost in the past.
➢ Example: Consumer Price Index (Tüketici Fiyat Endeksi - TÜFE)
➢ Example: Construction Cost Index (İnşaat Maliyet Endeksi)
• Project cost should be estimated based on indexes published by official sources,
such as the Turkish Statistical Institute (Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu - TÜİK)
